potty woes.

my daughter will not use the potty. unless she wants to. which is rare. forcing her ends in utter destruction and i'm certain is not the pc way to do it. a couple days ago, she told me she wanted to wear panties for the morning. (i wish it were spelled pannies, because really, who pronounces the 't'? i don't, i doubt that you do. so for all intensive purposes and for the rest of this post, pannies it is.) ok, i said. but you HAVE to go on the potty if you 're going to wear pannies and no diaper. ok mommy. so, every 5 minutes i would ask her if she had gone yet, and remind her that 'now' might be a good time. an hour and a half passes, she still hasn't gone, i'm getting concerned. she tells me she wants to go wash her hands, which she does several times a day, very well i might add. she's in there for a couple minutes and i hear, "mommy! i wet!" UUUUGGGGHH i think to myself. well, it wasn't actually to myself, i definitely let out a frustrated sound. she is standing in the hall with the typical "i just peed my pants" wet marks down the insides of her capris. "HONEY- why didn't you go on the potty like mommy told you???" "my sorry mommy (she says "my" for "i" most of the time- its way too cute to correct). but i did go on potty. see! i standing on the potty!" translation- she uses her little potty as a stool to wash her hands. so TECHNICALLY she WAS on the potty when she went. she was standing on it. seriously? she is going to kindergarten in diapers. because i certainly do not know where to go from there.

Hehehehe! At least she did what you asked. She did go "on" the potty. Right before carter turned 3, he woke up one morning and said he didn't want to wear diapers anymore. He put on underwear and has never had an accident. It will happen, I promise;) Sometimes, I think they need to do it in their own time.

we never bothered to try with Liana until she was 3 because life with Titus was too hard for any of us to bother with it. If she wants to wear panties & have accidents, you can try what Rachael and my friend Kyra do - you can either leave them in their pants for a while, or make it her job to take everything off by herself, put it in the bathtub and then put new ones on. It's a lot of work at that age, so sometimes it snaps them out of being lazy about it. It's letting them deal with the consequences of their own choice and not letting yourself get mad about it. Our feeding therapist said that there are very few things you can't force a child to do, but they include eating and going potty. I'm pretty sure TItus will be potty trained before he eats solid food. :) hang in there!! anna

we are going through the same thing with Alberto....I got this crazy idea that this was the week to potty train. lee is out of town and it has been a challenging 3 days. i am not seeing any big progress..but i keep holding on to the little accomplishments we have each day...we celebrate the times he decides to make it to the potty and i second guess myself the times we do not make it...in the end it is a journey with a lot of people on the sidelines jumping to add in their 2 cents...just have fun....enjoy this precious "leaking" time because dating is just aruond the corner! :)

hang in there girl,
she'll get it......crazy all those little things you have to teach them, like no honey you have to put your naked butt on the potty, then pee....ha ha ha ! I know I let out more than a few of those audible frustrated sounds too! we ALL have!

She and O can attend kindergarten together in diapers, and then no one will give them a hard time - safety in numbers! ;)
